Globalisation is a worldwide phenomenon in this contemporary era but let us know first what globalisation is. Globalisation describes a process by which different regional cultures, information, economies, languages, and whole societies become integrated into a larger, consolidated network. While often used just to describe economic tendencies in the world market, globalisation does take into account everything from migration to the spread of information and technology.
I believe Globalization is a good thing to be embraced by the world, but like all things there are a positive side and there are a negative side, let's explore this pros and cons a little further. Globalization first appears in the nations of the West like Britain, the United States and much more, so as a new player in Globalization our media does not stand a chance against the already more well developed western media so as a result our nation heavily condemns globalization in fear of children losing our cultural heritage and in turn our younger generations would be more interested in foreign culture than ours. and because of the "conservative" and not liberal views of our older generation many things brought here by Globalization such as Homosexualism, Pornography, Sex before marriage, nudity and many more is considered as immoral or taboo. on the economic side globalization also complicates things within the chain of supplies, this chain of supply is so complicated that if one fails it would ruin the entire chain and causing a worldwide economic crisis. the advantages of Globalization for Indonesia however far exceeds the disadvantages. Globalization ensures a fast, stable, and accurate means of communication and flow of information provided by the Internet. trading is extremely cut short by years, in the 17th and 18th century a ship from Amsterdam would take about a year to arrive in Jakarta but with the development of Steam engines now it would only take a few months. travel and migration now only takes a few hours thanks to the development of passenger jet aircraft in the 1950's
Global economy is a more recent term, although trading from China to Europe exist as far back as 200 BC known as the Silk Road. global economy only gained prominence during the late 19th century and the early 20th century until the present day. today Global Economy is inseparable from Globalization not only from the fact that trading is cut short as I've mentioned earlier, other economic powerhouse such as Stock Trading and the stock market is heavily influenced by Globalization, for example a Riot which occurred in Thailand recently will create fears among foreign investors of large manufacturing companies such as foxconn, mitsubishi and toyota. because manufacturing process are halted stocks of toyota, foxconn and mitsubishi goes down, creating a supply problem for the demand. investors are losing money and now turn their attention to a more stable country with cheap human resources such as Indonesia or Vietnam. from this example it is evident that even a small regional event could turn into a Globalized event in which many parties are involved or affected whether directly or indirectly that is how Globalization affects our World Economy
